Tina Curtis of Walnut Rotary was selected three years ago to serve as Governor of Rotary District 6420 of the northwestern corner of IL from Wisconsin border through Quad Cities to the south and as far east as McHenry. She was inducted as Governor as of July 1 and has begun the visit officially to each of the Rotary Clubs to share her vision of her Rotary year. The first major project she shared with the members was the intent to promote the World's Largest Polio Walk on World Polio Day on Saturday, October 24 throughout the district, and throughout the zone which reaches from Canada to Texas border, all clubs at 10 am CDT together throughout the mid west of USA to end polio forever. We are so close in the world after 35 years of immunizations to bring an end to the second disease in our world of polio. What an accomplishment it would be! With the Gates Foundation match of 2:1 of every dollar raised by Rotarians and the public's help, this walk may well be the end of polio forever. Be watching for further information on how the public can also participate with the seven Rotary Clubs in the Sauk Valley area at the Dixon event: Dixon, Rock Falls, Sterling Noon, Mendota, Walnut, Rochelle and Oregon.
