Rotary District 6420 held their annual conference in Davenport the last weekend of April. Several awards were presented to clubs with outstanding participation in areas of literacy and public image (PR). Rock Falls Rotary was recognized for 4 such district awards, which was quite an honor considering the number of awards given out .

 

Andy Axup, Chair of the Rotary District 6420 Literacy Committee presents to President Pam Erby (left) and to Julie Logan, President -Elect of Rock Falls Rotary (right), Certificates of Outstanding Club Achievement and Sustained Excellence in the area of Literacy at the recent District Conference held in Davenport..  Also included is a patch to adhere to the club Rotary banner.  The Club Achievement Award is presented upon a club's participation in four areas of literacy.  The Sustained Excellence is based upon the longevity of a club literacy project which for Rock Fall sis a 20 year history of a reading program weekly at East Coloma-Nelson School by Rotary members.

Jan Whitlock had begun a weekly literacy activity at the distribution of lunches for Feed The Children last summer in the Coloma Homes Housing Authority.

Karen Voss (left) and Betty Clementz (right), co-chairs of the Public Image Committee of the Rock Falls Rotary, were selected as recipients of the Public Image Club Achievement Award for their successful efforts to publicize Rotary through four media: print, radio, website and /or internet, and radio.
